DESCRIPTION: Our first project in Austin! Back in 2018, some friends of friends asked us to help them remodel a house they just bought in Clarksville. We were still living in L.A. at the time, but we said yes. The rest is history. It’s the project that ultimately brought us to Austin in 2020 and kicked off DOB&EEL as a full time venture. Construction completed in 2022.
A major renovation to a 100-year-old house in the historic Clarksville district of Austin, transforming an old triplex into a new single family home. We also designed a pool for the backyard. The first step was peeling back the many different remodels and additions the house had undergone over the years to give it a fresh start. The front facade is relatively unchanged formally, but the color went from white to black. Inside, one is drawn through sitting and dining spaces, past an open wood staircase, to the sunny kitchen, living room and back porch.
The covered back porch looks out over a lush green backyard, carefully landscaped by the owners. The pool at the very back of the lot is like a quiet oasis in the forest. It’s hard to believe it’s just a stones throw from downtown Austin.
